Hunting area
The hunting grounds cover several thousand hectares and are located in the west and north-west of the Czech Republic, more specifically between Pilsen and the capital Prague.
The region is known for its high population of sika deer. In addition, mouflons feel at home in this hilly biotope. It can happen that mixed herds of both species pass by your stand.
Compared to Poland, larger drives are hunted in the Czech Republic. There are usually two drives a day. For safety reasons, in most cases shooting takes place from small high seats.
We have a lot of experience with this country and you can use it to your advantage. To make your trip even more varied, it is possible to hunt the third or fourth day in a fallow deer area.
Hunting season
The driven hunting season runs from November to the end of January. When most leaves have fallen, you can see and hear the game coming more easily. For driven hunting, this is by far the best period to realize a ‘big parade’.
Please enquire about available dates if you would like to experience this type of hunting in the Czech Republic with your own group. It is also possible to join in as an individual hunter.
In most of our districts red stags are only allowed to shoot when stalking or from a high seat. Roe deer are also not hunted during driven hunts. But don’t you worry – there are plenty of other game species left. Another interesting fact: there is no limit on the number of trophy animals.
Travel details
The Czech Republic seems far away, but in reality it is closer than Poland. When you leave early in the morning you will arrive at the hotel in the late afternoon. Which leaves you still enough time to unpack, freshen up and have a drink at the bar.
In the evening, during a tasty buffet, the programme for the following days will be discussed, along with some words on safety. All hunters take part in a lottery that determines their stand number for the next day.
Around 6.30 am, a hearty breakfast awaits, after which the entire group heads for the hunting grounds. Between 8.00 and 9.00 am, the first drive will start. Soon the first shots will be fired.
After a hot lunch in the field with soup or goulash, the second drive begins. After the hunt each piece of game is honoured by the hornblowers in an atmospheric setting with pine branches and torches. This is always an impressive moment.
Afterwards, dinner is served in the restaurant. The most exciting stories will undoubtedly be relived at the table. Day two and three have the same structure.
