Wild boar are by far the most popular big game species in Europe. Keilers, ‘überläufers’ and sounders are found in almost every country.
This species can be hunted all year round from a high seat or while stalking. The most exciting period is driven hunting season during the last months of the year.
Despite African swine fever, this black primeval specimen is still holding its own. Internationally known are the hunts in Hungary, Croatia, Poland and Romania.
The largest boars are found in these countries and Turkey, where huge boars weighing 200 kg and more. But also Sweden and of course Germany have excellent populations.
